If you have ever wondered “Whatever happened to the gold old days” or “Why is life so complicated?”, this article is for you.
So sit back, relax and hopefully you’ll enjoy reading this one.
Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.
– Confucius

Before starting this one, I’d like to get a little emotional. It’s been almost a month since I’ve started writing, and over this past month, I’ve received a whole lot of positive feedback. I’ve had 52 visitors, and 1 follower (Thanks for that Mr. David Mills) on my site and 129 views, 4 likes, 8 comments on my 3 articles published, excluding this one. I know the stats look very meager, but to me it means the world for even one person to read my content, let alone 52. So, for this. I’d like to sincerely thank you, the reader, for taking time out of your busy schedule to read and evaluate my content. This is a wonderful experience and I intend to keep this up for your pleasure, as well as mine. So, thank you.
Now on to the topic, I bet most of us have had this feeling once or twice (Well I’ve had it almost everyday, before I had this epiphany), that life isn’t as simple as it used to be. I mean, think about it, there are seismic shifts in the functioning of the world that are happening by the second. We see the ginormous amount of not-so-positive stuff that is happening all around the world, through various platforms of social media, including the press, and other platforms for people to connect with each other. Apart from that, we see that there is a battle royal going on for survival in this world, 1 million people contending for an opportunity for 45 odd jobs. As we compare today’s circumstances to those around 50 years ago, we not only feel, but can clearly see that the way the world works has changed drastically.
Or has it? Is the aforementioned information correct as per you? If yes, let me present you with a few statements. For the ginormous amount of not-so-positive stuff happening, there is tons of very-very-positive stuff happening around the world, and we can access those tons on the same social media platforms, including the press, and other platforms for people to connect with each other. For the job scarcity, I have an alternative way to look at it. Instead of looking at the million people competing, why not think “There are 45 jobs, I require just one of them“. Comparing current circumstances to those 50 years ago is hardly fair, because the people 50 years ago had to be extremely resourceful, because they survived with the amount of technology which is lower than you and I can barely imagine.
Life is not very complex. As a matter of fact, it is very simple. Remember when we were kids, and everything was as simple as either laughing or crying? When we were happy, comfortable, relaxed or any other positive feeling, we laughed. When we were sad, angry, hungry, thirsty, uncomfortable, soiled ourselves, smelled foul odors, we cried. It wasn’t complicated at all. But now, when we’re unhappy, we have three levels, the first one, we don’t talk, second we post an incredibly sad picture and status on social media, third and the extreme level, we remove our profile picture and hide our “about” on WhatsApp. Why not try to make ourselves comfortable by talking to someone instead of making it worse by sitting and constantly thinking about the thing that’s making us upset?
So, moving forward, let’s try to keep it simple. Nothing is as tragic as it appears on its face. Everything in this world can be handled. When you’re happy, laugh, and share the laughter. When you’re sad, feel that, and talk to someone, who can give you the best advise about the situation. When confused, ask. When hungry, eat. When thirsty, drink. Try not to overly complicate things, because life may be simple, but it’s a hell of an adventure to miss pondering things that may or may not matter later in your life.
